• Russia's Sputnik News Agency, citing Chinese customs data, reported that in August this year, Russia's imports of automobiles from China increased by 26% compared with the previous month and 50% compared with the same period last year, reaching a record high of 1.6 billion U.S. dollars (2.07 billion Singapore dollars).
• This has raised the share of the Russian market in China's automobile export structure to 19.1%, an increase of 2.7 percentage points from July, second only to 20.3% in June this year.
• In the first eight months of this year, Chinese automakers supplied passenger cars worth a total of 9.15 billion U.S. dollars to the Russian market, 34.6% higher than the 6.8 billion U.S. dollars in the same period last year.
• According to statistics from the China Automobile Data Research Institute, a Chinese automobile data center, among the top 10 automobile brand sales rankings in Russia in August, except for Lada, the Russian local brand that ranked first, the remaining nine positions were all occupied by Chinese brands.
• The second to fifth places on the list are Chinese automakers such as Haval, Chery, Geely, and Changan, each with monthly sales of more than 10,000 units; among the sixth to tenth places, four brands are Chery's sub-brands in Russia. This means that Chery took half of the sales rankings in August, with total sales exceeding 30,000 units.
• A survey by Russian automotive analysis agency Autostat shows that Chery is the most common Chinese automobile brand on Russian streets. As of July 1 this year, the number of registered Chinese brand passenger cars in Russia was 1.86 million, accounting for 4% of the total market.
