Xiaomi may be preparing a new flagship sedan, as its SU9 LUX trademark application has sparked speculation. Based on previous spy shots, it might be a large sedan with a long wheelbase.
According to recently revealed trademark details, Xiaomi applied for “XIAOMI SU9 LUX” on February 13, 2026, under Class 12, which includes automobiles. The application was published for preliminary approval on June 6, with an opposition period running from June 7 to September 6.
In China, automakers often use “9” in the names of their flagship models, such as the Zeekr 9X, Aito M9, Li Auto L9 and Nio ET9.
The “LUX” suffix may refer to luxury, but Xiaomi has never used that naming before. The company has also applied for the SU7 LUX trademark. These filings could protect potential names without indicating plans to launch either model.
Spy shots have spotted the SU9 LUX, previously reported as a long-wheelbase version of the SU7. According to spy shots and reports, the new flagship sedan will be more than 5.2 meters long and have a wheelbase of approximately 3.1 meters. Xiaomi has not released official dimensions or confirmed the production-vehicle name.
Reports accompanying the spy shots describe rear-wheel steering, reshaped side-camera housings, and additional side radar sensors.
Long-wheelbase sedans are popular among business buyers in China, as they offer more rear-seat space. Traditional automakers meet this demand with China-only models with longer wheelbases such as the Audi A6L, Mercedes-Benz E-Class L, and BMW 5 Series Li.
Xiaomi entered the car market with the SU7 sedan in March 2024, followed by the SU7 Ultra in February 2025. It launched its first SUV, the battery-electric YU7, on June 26, 2025. The company subsequently introduced a new-generation SU7 in March 2026 and expanded into extended-range SUVs with the massive Sky Nomad series in September.
Xiaomi’s total deliveries reached 40,015 vehicles in September, up 32.7% from August but down 4.6% year-on-year, according to CPCA data. The newly launched Sky Nomad contributed 12,444 vehicles to that total.
Meanwhile, SU7 series deliveries fell 19.6% year-on-year to 15,751 units in September. Xiaomi said in August that cumulative SU7 series deliveries had surpassed 500,000 vehicles in 28.5 months.
In the first nine months of 2026 (January-September), Xiaomi sold 286,490 units in China, up 7.4% from the same period last year.
