Firefly, the compact EV brand under Nio, is set to expand its lineup with a new model variant launching on October 23, as reported by Autohome. The upcoming model features an upgrade to a 60kWh battery pack, extending its CLTC-rated range to 560 km (~454 km WLTP). The company has confirmed that existing owners will be eligible to upgrade their vehicles to this new battery configuration.
This announcement follows a period of strong momentum for the brand, which recently celebrated the delivery of its 90,000th vehicle. Since its official market debut in April 2025, Firefly has positioned itself with a competitive pricing strategy, starting at 119,800 yuan (17,900 USD) for full ownership, or 79,800 yuan (11,900 USD) when utilising its BaaS (battery as a service) program.
Performance and technical specifications
The core enhancement of the new model is the transition from the current 42.1kWh Sunwoda battery pack (which provides a 420 km CLTC range) to the new CATL 60kWh unit. The vehicle continues to utilise a rear-mounted single motor, delivering a maximum power output of 122 kW (164 hp) and a peak torque of 205 N·m. The chassis setup remains consistent, featuring a MacPherson independent front suspension and a five-link independent rear suspension.
Design and dimensions
The model is highlighted by the “trio” headlight configuration consisting of three circular light rings. It features a 92-litre front trunk designed for tiered storage and equipped with drainage capabilities.
The vehicle’s dimensions are as follows:
| Feature | Specification |
|---|---|
| Length | 4,003 mm |
| Width | 1,781 mm |
| Height | 1,557 mm |
| Wheelbase | 2,615 mm |
Interior
Inside, the cockpit is equipped with a dual-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a 13.2-inch floating central touchscreen, and a 6-inch full LCD instrument cluster.
To enhance urban usability, the interior features a “walk-through” design between the driver and front passenger seats, allowing for easy entry and exit from either side of the vehicle.
