BYD’s next-generation Tang EV has appeared in China’s proposed vehicle regulatory listing with dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD), 515 kW (691 hp) of combined peak power and a listed top speed of 250 km/h. The five-seat electric SUV measures 5,045 mm long, has a 2,950 mm wheelbase, and weighs 2,520 kg curb weight.
A fourth-quarter 2026 launch in China is expected. The regulatory document is a proposed listing, however, not final production approval.
Dimensions and seating
The AWD version measures 5,045 mm long, 1,980 mm wide and 1,740 mm tall. The filing lists front and rear track widths of 1,700 mm, a gross vehicle weight of 2,975 kg, approach and departure angles of 18 and 21 degrees, and front and rear overhangs of 985 mm and 1,110 mm.
Compared with the second-generation Tang EV, the new model is 145 mm longer and has a 130 mm longer wheelbase. Its listed top speed is 70 km/h higher than that of the previous AWD version. The filing specifies five seats, whereas the previous generation was offered with six- and seven-seat configurations.
BYD’s larger Da Tang EV, launched in China on June 17, 2026, measures 5,263 mm long and has a 3,130 mm wheelbase. It offers a seven-seat, three-row layout and launched at a starting price of 239,900 yuan (about 35,500 USD). The two models differ in dimensions and seating configurations, but BYD has not explained the product split.

Powertrain, battery and range
The front axle uses an AC asynchronous motor with 215 kW peak and 75 kW rated output. The rear axle has a permanent-magnet synchronous motor rated at 300 kW peak and 150 kW rated output. Together, they deliver 515 kW (691 hp) of peak power.
Dongguan FinDreams Powertrain Co., Ltd. manufactures the front motor, model YS230XYF. Xi’an BYD Automotive Components Co., Ltd. supplies the rear motor, model TZ205QYD.
The proposed listing identifies a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, with cells supplied by Wuwei FinDreams Battery and the pack assembled by Zhengzhou FinDreams Battery. It does not specify the battery capacity, driving range or charging performance of this AWD configuration.
The third-generation Tang EV lineup lists battery capacities of 88.682 kWh and 105.792 kWh, alongside CLTC ranges of 730 km, 830 km and 850 km. The available information does not reliably match each capacity and range to the 515 kW AWD version.
Chassis, driver assistance and equipment
The filing lists 245/45 R21 tyres and an optional rear HL265/45 R21 fitment with load index 112, equivalent to 1,120 kg per tyre under applicable conditions. It also names Bosch Automotive Products (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. in connection with the BWA/ESP system.
Separate reports associate the Tang EV with DiSus-A intelligent air suspension and the DiPilot 300 driver-assistance package, known domestically as God’s Eye B. Images show roof-mounted LiDAR and cameras integrated into the front-fender trim. Still, neither the software functions nor whether the package is standard or optional on this AWD version has been confirmed.
Reported cabin features include a panoramic glass roof, a 35.4-inch display beneath the windshield and a 30-inch central touchscreen with a resizable, tiled-window interface. The proposed regulatory listing has not established these details.
Listed options include exterior trim and wheel designs, roof racks, and deployable electric or fixed side steps.
