Li Auto will launch the refreshed Mega MPV in China on September 2. Li Xiang, the CEO of Li Auto, says the pure-electric MPV is going all-in on the “home-away-from-home” theming and will feature a lengthwise-mounted ceiling light to create a brighter “living room”-style cabin.

While pricing has not been announced, the current Li Mega is offered in “Ultra” and “Home” trims, which retail for 529,800 yuan (78,800 USD) and 559,800 yuan (83,300 USD), respectively. The refresh is expected to fall in the 80,000 USD range.

What’s new with the Li Mega

The largest addition to the refreshed Mega is the new ceiling light, which spans lengthwise between the second and third rows. Like the current Mega, the second row seats can swivel and slide to provide more cabin space.

Combined with a centre-mounted folding table, the CEO claims the new Mega’s “living room” configuration will provide the ultimate “mobile home” for both adults and “playing children”, with the new ceiling light providing ample illumination for the entire cabin.

Analysis by Yiche also reveals several additional tweaks to the Mega’s cabin. The second-row seats supposedly receive longer floor tracks for greater flexibility, and a new roof-mounted vanity mirror is here too. The rear-facing climate control panel on the centre console now appears to be a touchscreen.

The MPV’s seats also feature new rhombus-themed stitching, as well as a “Home” logo on the headrest. This hints that the refresh will continue with the Home trim, while it’s currently unclear if the Ultra trim will return.

More on the Li Mega

The Li Mega is a controversial car in China, with many Chinese internet users mocking the MPV’s “coffin-esqe” rear end when it first launched in late 2023. It is also Li Auto’s first EV, with its previous models being range-extended (EREV) SUVs.

The refreshed Mega receives a mild bump in power and battery size while range remains unchanged. Its dual motors now put out 413 kW (553 hp) at the front and rear wheels, with a 108 kWh ternary NMC “Qilin” pack from CATL providing up to 710km of range.

While Li Auto hasn’t announced any charging specs for the refresh, the current Mega is built on an 800V platform and supports 5C charging. The automaker says a 10-minute charging session adds 500 km of range to the MPV.

The new Mega measures 5,355/1,965/1,850 mm and has a 3,300 mm wheelbase. It uses a front double-wishbone and rear multi-link suspension, paired with a dual-chamber air suspension system. Curb weight is now 2,925 kg.

According to China EV DataTracker, Li Auto delivered 336 Mega units domestically in July 2026. This is down almost tenfold from a peak of 3,277 units in September 2025, and this slump may be attributed to a high-profile vehicle fire involving a Li Mega in Shanghai in late October 2025.

Li Auto later announced a recall over potential thermal runaway risks, affecting around 11,000 Megas in China. Its controversial looks have not helped it become a sales success, either.

CEO Li Xiang concludes his Weibo post by dismissing these views as “noise”, and hopes the Mega’s new cabin will make it the “most important car in the lives of buyers”.
