BYD Sealion 08 is going to launch on September 2. Zhang Zhuo, General Manager of the BYD Ocean Series Sales Division, shared the interior of the five-seater version of the upcoming model. The interior of the six-seater version was revealed earlier.

The Sealion 08 will offer both battery electric (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) powertrains. It started taking pre-orders on Aug 13th, the plug-in hybrid variant is available for reservations at 230,000 yuan (34,105 USD). The BEV version starts at 250,000 yuan (37,070 USD).

Design
The Sealion 08 measures 5115/1999/1800 mm with a wheelbase of 3,030 mm. It maintains the design language of the Ocean S concept car. The front fascia features a split-headlight arrangement with a through-type design for the upper lights and dynamic air ducts integrated into the front bumper. A roof-mounted LiDAR sensor indicates the integration of the “God’s Eye 5.0” advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).

Inside, the cabin adheres to the “Ocean Aesthetics 2.0” philosophy. The interior features a light beige colour palette with soft leather cladding. It also features adjustable through-type ambient lighting and oval chrome air vents.

The centre console retains a few physical buttons for high-frequency functions. The digital cockpit consists of a floating central touchscreen and a full LCD instrument cluster, paired with a three-spoke steering wheel.

Seating layouts
The Sealion 08 will be available in two layouts:

• Five-seat version: The rear outboard seats are equipped with leg rests, and a storage cabinet is located beneath the middle seat.
• Six-seat version (2+2+2): The second row features two independent aviation seats with armrests, electric adjustment, and leg rests.

Powertrain and performance
PHEV variants: Utilising fifth-generation DM technology, the PHEV model pairs a 1.5T engine with electric motors. The engine delivers a maximum power of 115 kW (154 hp). It is available in two versions:

• Single-motor: Motor maximum power of 200 kW (268 hp).
• Dual-motor: Both front and rear motors deliver 200 kW (268 hp) each.
  The maximum CLTC pure electric range for the PHEV model is 400 km.

BEV variants: The all-electric version also offers single- and dual-motor options:

• Single-motor: Available with maximum power outputs of either 320 kW (429 hp) or 370 kW (496 hp).
• Dual-motor: The front and rear motors deliver 215 kW (288 hp) and 370 kW (496 hp), respectively.

According to previous filings, the BEV will offer two battery pack options (92.093 kWh and 115.072 kWh), providing CLTC ranges of 710km, 800km, and 900km.

Beyond its powertrain, the Seasion 08 features the second-gen Blade Battery and Flash Charging technology, the DiSus-A system, dual-chamber air suspension with road preview, and rear-wheel steering.
