BYD has reached 10,000 Flash Charging stations across China in less than six months since launching its Flash Charging strategy in March. The company will hold a ceremony on August 28 at the Shenzhen Longhua Flash Charging flagship station, Ifeng reports.
BYD brand and public relations general manager Li Yunfei and leaders of its five automotive business units released a video teaser for the event. The teasers came from BYD’s Dynasty, Ocean, Denza, Fang Cheng Bao and Yangwang brands.
The new Flash Charging stations can deliver up to 1,500 kW through a single connector, charging a vehicle from 10% to 70% in five minutes and from 10% to 97% in nine minutes, according to BYD.
BYD reaches halfway point of 2026 target
BYD announced a plan in March to deploy 20,000 Flash Charging stations in China by the end of 2026. The target consists of 18,000 urban stations and 2,000 highway stations.
The company reported about 5,000 stations on April 1 and 7,018 by late June. By July, BYD said its Flash Charging network covered 325 cities. The reported 10,000-station figure represents half of the year-end target.
Reaching 20,000 by December 31 would require another 10,000 stations after the August 28 milestone, or about 80 additional stations per day through year-end. This is the deployment rate required to meet the stated target, not the current reported installation rate.
Sinopec agreement brings charging to fuel stations.
BYD’s rollout also uses Sinopec’s service-station network in China under an agreement the two companies signed on June 3 in Beijing. The agreement provides for adding Flash Charging facilities at selected Sinopec sites alongside existing fuel operations, rather than converting the entire network.
Sinopec operates more than 30,000 service stations across China.
A Shanghai example began operation on August 6 at the Hongqiao Flagship Station on Huqingping Highway. The site replaced fuel pumps with charging bays and uses liquid-cooled charging equipment rated for up to 1,500 kW from a single gun.


1,500 kW is the station’s peak rating
BYD introduced its 1,500 kW Flash Charging system on March 5, with peak single-gun output of up to 1,500 kW. The charging cable is liquid-cooled and mounted on an overhead T-rail sliding system, while BYD says the charging gun weighs about 2 kg.
The charging infrastructure also uses local battery energy storage to buffer instantaneous power demand. The equipment uses the GB/T DC charging interface and supports dual-gun DC charging where applicable.
The 1,500 kW figure refers to the charging hardware’s maximum output. It does not mean a vehicle receives 1,500 kW continuously throughout a charging session. Actual vehicle-side power varies with factors including battery state of charge, pack architecture and thermal conditions.
No standardised third-party charging curve showing vehicle-side power across BYD’s claimed 10%-97% charging range has been publicly identified. The 1,500 kW station rating therefore should not be directly compared with battery C-rate figures.
For reference, CATL’s Shenxing and Qilin battery families have been associated with 4C and 5C charging ratings. Those figures describe battery charging characteristics rather than charging-station output.
Second-Generation Blade Battery linked to Hongqi platform
BYD’s Second-Generation Blade Battery uses lithium iron phosphate chemistry. The company claims it can charge from 10% to 70% state of charge in 5 minutes and from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes under its stated testing conditions.
BYD also claims that charging from 20% to 97% at -30°C takes approximately 12 minutes, about three minutes longer than under the standard conditions cited by the company.
Separately, FAW-FinDreams has been nominated to supply Second-Generation Blade Battery technology and Flash Charging architecture for FAW Hongqi’s next-generation EV platform.
The nomination makes Hongqi the first confirmed external brand publicly linked to the technology in the available disclosures. Hongqi has not disclosed the specific models, battery capacities, or start-of-production dates.
European rollout and track testing
BYD plans to deploy 6,000 Flash Charging stations overseas, including 3,000 in Europe. We previously reported on the European rollout.
A modified Denza Z9 GT has also been photographed testing in Europe (Nürburgring circuit) with a roll cage and revised aerodynamics. Industry reports estimate about 1,500 kW (2,000 hp), but BYD has not published an official output figure for the prototype.
