The second-gen BYD Seagull arrived at dealers in China ahead of the domestic launch for display, finished in orange. It will enter the market shortly with flash charging technology, the DiPilot 300 assisted driving, and 127 hp.
Surprisingly, the display version of the second-generation Seagull reached showrooms without a LiDAR sensor on the roof, which is a part of the DiPilot 300 (“God’s Eye B”) ADAS, suitable for the Navigate On Autopilot function. The car is finished in orange, which is one of six colors available for this model, including green, white, pink, blue, and gray. Other fine features include blackened 16-inch rims, semi-hidden door handles, and a floating roof.

The interior of the new BYD Seagull at the dealer is finished in white. This urban driver adopts a two-spoke steering wheel with a gear shifter behind it. There is no LCD instrument cluster, as the left part of the center screen acts as an instrument panel. The center tunnel has a wireless phone charger, a block of physical buttons, and two cup holders. Another highlight of the Seagull is an electrically powered frunk.

The new BYD Seagull boasts hefty dimensions of 4205/1810/1570 mm with a wheelbase of 2,650 mm. It is 425 mm longer than the ongoing first generation. It has a 95 kW (127 hp) electric motor in the rear axle and two battery options for 30 and 39.2 kWh. Its CLTC range is 320 – 420 km under CLTC conditions (262 – 344 km WLTP). The Seagull also supports flash charging technology, suitable for charging from 10% to 97% in nine minutes.
The Seagull became available for pre-order on October 9 for 2,000 yuan (~300 USD). The price of the new car remains undisclosed, which is a common practice in China. It allows automakers to attract attention to the model and to assess potential sales volume based on booking statistics and user interest. A refund can be issued at any time before the order is locked.
The BYD Seagull is expected to cost below 100,000 yuan (14,915 USD) in China. For clarity, the ongoing BYD Seagull delivered 74,087 units from January to August 2026, down 66.5%, according to China EV DataTracker. Its price range lies between 69,900 and 85,900 yuan (10,425 – 12,810 USD).
