The Freelander 8 full-size EREV SUV with 818 hp got 5,000 firm orders in 12 hours after the launch in China. The new model from Chery Jaguar Land Rover (CJLR) is available for purchase in six trim levels priced between 289,900 and 379,900 yuan (53,145 – 56,540 USD), with limited-time discounts included.

Freelander officially disclosed the reservation statistics on social media, sharing that its first model received 5,000 firm orders within 12 hours of launch. This term means that an order became non-refundable after a customer locked in a desirable configuration. According to the Freelander app, people can place orders for 5,000 yuan (744 USD).

Freelander offers some limited-time offers for customers who place orders until 24:00 on September 30. Those benefits are worth up to 166,000 yuan (24,715 USD). They include a 15,000 yuan (2,235 USD) trade-in bonus, a purchase tax deduction of 10,000 yuan (1,490 USD), complimentary equipment upgrades worth up to 90,000 yuan (13,400 USD), optional equipment upgrades for 10,000 yuan (1,490 USD), a subsidy for Huawei ADS 5 assisted driving package for 21,000 yuan (3,125 USD), the “luxury delivery package” for 30,000 yuan (4,465 USD), etc.

The Freelander 8’s market performance isn’t as exceptional as some figures reported by Xiaomi. However, the new model from CJLR surpassed the Stelato G9 SUV from Huawei and BAIC, which took 24 hours to reach 5,000 firm orders. However, the Stelato G9 is also a pricier car, which costs 429,800 – 549,800 yuan (63,990 – 81,855 USD). The Freelander 8 is a full-size SUV with dimensions of 5118/2050/1898 mm. Its wheelbase stretches to 3,040 mm. The Frelander 8 can tow up to 2,000 kg. Its ground clearance is 220 mm. Moreover, the car adopts dual-chamber air suspension and rear-wheel steering. Its turning radius is just 5.15 meters. The curb weight of the car is 2,980 kg, while the gross weight reaches 3,495 kg.

The Freelander 8’s cabin adopts two interior layout variants for 5 and 6 seats. The car’s dashboard features a large 46.3-inch screen under the windshield. It acts as an LCD instrument panel. This model also has a 15.6-inch touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay and Huawei HiCar. The second-row seats of the Freelander 8 adopt 16-point massage.
