Aistaland, the premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand jointly developed by GAC Group (HKEX: 2238) and Huawei, said on Saturday that it will begin pre-sales for its second model, the GX7, on September 4.

The brand said the pre-sales event will begin at 5:00 pm Beijing Time that day, when it will explain its definition of a new "spacious 5-seater" category.

GX7 display vehicles have reached 60 stores across 32 Chinese cities. The roll-out suggests the model remains on track for a launch this fall.

The GX7 is a 5-seat extended-range SUV that made its debut on June 26 at the launch event for Aistaland's first model, the GT7.

Aistaland has yet to announce pricing. Some Chinese media outlets expect the top-trim version to cost about 350,000 yuan ($51,600).

For comparison, the all-electric GT7 shooting brake has a starting price of 209,900 yuan, with the top-trim version priced at 329,900 yuan.

The GX7 measures 5,099 mm in length, 2,006 mm in width and 1,750 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,070 mm, according to regulatory filing information released in July.

It has a drag coefficient of 0.26, a semi-enclosed front fascia and active grille shutters, according to Aistaland.

Smart technology is another key selling point. The vehicle features Huawei's latest Qiankun ADS 5 driving-assistance system and 4 LiDAR units, including an 896-channel, dual-optical-path, image-grade LiDAR.

The GX7 has 38 perception sensors and incorporates 8 redundancy systems designed for Level 3 autonomous driving.

Its cabin is among the first to feature HarmonySpace 6, with dual 15.6-inch connected screens and an 88-inch augmented-reality head-up display (AR-HUD).

The GX7 uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged range extender and a 3-motor layout, delivering peak system output of 550 kW and 0-to-100-km/h acceleration in the 3-second range.

CATL (HKEX: 3750) supplies the batteries, which are available in 51.9-kWh and 67.2-kWh configurations and support 800-volt 5C ultra-fast charging.

The GX7 offers a CLTC pure-electric range of up to 385 km. Aistaland said its combined range exceeds 1,500 km, up from the previously said 1,400 km.

Aistaland is among the brands Huawei has created with Chinese automakers under a new partnership model. Huawei has stationed a team in Guangzhou to work from the same offices as Aistaland's staff, while GAC is responsible for vehicle development and manufacturing.
